Organic soybean meal prices remain volatile. The supply disruption created by the Indian oversight group APEDA has produced a dearth of organic soybeans making their way to the United States. Merchandisers and exporters tell The Jacobsen that dispatch in India is approximately 5% of levels seen just two months ago. During the past four weeks, organic soybean meal prices are up 20% FOB India and 25% delivered in Southcentral Pennsylvania.
Organic soybeans are even more challenging to find. Domestic organic soybeans have been consumed, and the few loads that are around are few and far between. The price of imported organic soybeans from India is climbing in line with conventional soybean prices, which has hit an all-time high. Conventional soybean prices on the NCDEX closed at $777 per metric ton, according to The Jacobsen.
